Providing Personalized Service – With Our 69-Year-Old Locomotive!

When one of our customers needed its plant switched and carloads forwarded for interchange, a VRS crew made it happen – using our vintage Alco RS-1 #405! The 69-year-old locomotive usually spends the winter in the roundhouse after handling our fall foliage passenger trains. On that particular day however the regular train over the Green Mountain route was not scheduled to run, so #405 was fired up and made the roundtrip from Bellows Falls to Ludlow, switching the facility and bringing back four cars.
