UncategorizedOn December 11, 2024, Vermont Rail System (VRS) welcomed the return of rail freight service to the Hazens transload site in Whitefield, NH. This milestone marks an essential step in supporting regional economic growth and enhancing the supply chain for local businesses.
The reintroduction of rail service to Whitefield offers significant benefits for local industries. New Hampshire Central Railroad (NHCR), one of seven VRS short-line railroads, connects directly with the Canadian National and St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad at Groveton, NH. The Groveton interchange links Whitefield area businesses to the North American rail network, an extended market reach that includes six class one railroads and hundreds of regional and shortline railroads throughout the continent.
VRS is committed to providing reliable freight rail access throughout northern New Hampshire. By prioritizing rail infrastructure, VRS aims to restore competitive transportation options for local businesses and support regional economic development.
VRS hosted a welcoming event for state and local officials, economic development leaders, and potential rail shippers to celebrate this achievement. The event highlighted the bright future of rail freight in Whitefield and northern New Hampshire. This accomplishment demonstrates VRS’s commitment to providing sustainable, efficient transportation solutions while supporting the region’s economic vitality.
A sincere thank you to all the team members and partners who made this success possible, reflecting VRS’s dedication to “Serving America’s Industry with Pride.”
